What does a bad dc power jack look like? Here's a dell inspiron 6000 as an example.

Ever wonder what a bad dc plug looks like? If you've already taken your laptop apart (or not) you can see here in this before and after pic what a bad power jack looks like and what it looks like after we've installed a new one. I used a dell inspiron 6000 as an example but this dc jack has been used for years on popular laptops like D600 (610, 620, 630), D500 (D510, D520, D530), E1701, E1705, 1525, 1526, 6400, 9200, 9300, and many, many others.
This Dell 6000 will power up if you hold the power adapter up but when you let go the laptop shuts completely off (no battery installed).
The two voltage pins on the power connection are actually oxidized and in almost every case (99%) the jack needs to be and should be replaced for it to last for years to come.
