HP Pavilion G6 DC Jack Repair/Replacement

The hp G6 is a newer 15.6" Windows 7 laptop. This hp G6 (g6-1b66nr) came in with a physically broken ac/dc plug. The laptop was dropped on the power jack and ruined the connection. It needed to be physically replaced.
The hp G6 uses a cable style dc jack that plugs into the motherboard vs. being soldered directly to the motherboard. The notebook needs to be completely taken apart to access and replace the dc jack.
The fact that this laptop is pretty new the dc jack is still pretty expensive. The G6 doesn't fall under the $65 and requires an additional $30 charge for this expensive dc plug.
With any laptop repair you might have some questions.
How do I know if I have the dc jack problem?

The laptop will not be able to power on with AC power. Sometimes the plug is loose or damaged. If the laptop works while plugged the dc jack is working. It doesn't regulate the battery charging or not.

My HP G6 works on AC but doesn't charge the battery. Is the dc connection bad?

No. If the laptop works on ac power the internal dc jack is doing it's job. If the battery isn't charging it could be a bad battery, bad power cord, or the charging circuitry on the motherboard has failed.
