Asus Zenbook UX31A UX32A with Broken DC Jacks

I've been seeing a lot of the Asus Zenbook laptops with broken charging ports.  They are very nice sleek powerful notebooks but the power plug is pretty frail.  The pin you're plugging into is very small and can break if any major tension occurs on the ac adapter cord.
The UX31A and UX32A are ones I can replace the dc jack on for my standard $69 parts and labor rate at http://www.pcrepairhelp.net.  I completely take them apart, de-solder the broken jack and re-solder a new connection on to fix the power connection problem.  They use a seven pin jack that is soldered directly to the main board.
I've included some media below to demonstrate the repair I perform on the zenbooks.  I've also been working on the UX21E, UX31E, UX32VD and more.

Asus U56E Broken DC Jack

This Asus U56E laptop came in with reports of the classic dc jack problem symptoms.  The user can hold the tip of the power cord in just the right way to get the laptop to power on and charge the battery.
It's a pretty new notebook and uses the same power plug as the popular Asus U52F, K53, A53, X54 and a host of others with the same power issues.
You need to take apart the entire laptop to gain access to the motherboard where the jack is soldered on.  This is not an easy job from start to finish so I would highly suggest having a professional who has worked on this model or many Asus laptops to tackle the job.  We perform this service for $65 parts and labor at www.pcrepairhelp.net.
Once torn down to the motherboard the back of the center pin has a hair line crack in it.  This explains why you need to hold it just right to make that connection (you can barely see this in the picture).
It uses a five pin, 2.5mm jack that many Asus notebooks use.
DC Jack broken on the back of the center pin.
Once the dc in connection is replaced it works like new again!

Gateway NV50A DC Power Jack Repair

This NV50A gateway laptop came in with the classic symptoms of being able to hold the tip of the power cord at just the right angle to get it to charge and power the battery.  This means the dc-in jack isn't making a good connection and needs replacement.
The NV50a is similar to and uses the same power plug as the NV53A and some NV59 notebooks.
It uses a cable style dc jack that plugs directly into the motherboard but you can also buy the dc jack and solder a new one on the reusable cable.
Once torn down to the motherboard the ground wire was disconnected form the jack causing the failure (see picture).
Once the jack was replaced the laptop powers on and charge the battery again!

Samsung RV520 DC Power Jack Repair

This Samsung RV520 came in with a physically broken power plug.  The customer reported tripping over the power cord and breaking the connection.  As you can see in the picture the circular barrel that was there has been completely ripped out and needs replacement.
We perform the ac plug repair for $65 parts and labor +$20 return shipping if needed.
The RV520 needs to be completely taken apart to the motherboard and requires soldering.  If you don't have a quality iron and skills in soldering I would recommend not trying this on your own.
The Samsung uses a 7 pin style dc jack that's soldered directly to the motherboard.
Once replaced, the laptop powers on and works great!

Samsung NP700Z5B DC Power Jack Repair

This Samsung NP700Z5B came in with a physically broken power plug.  The customer reported tripping over the cord and the laptop falling from a small table.  The all plastic internal dc jack basically shattered inside the notebook and needs replacement.
Its uses a 7 pin dc jack that is soldered directly to the motherboard.  The NP700 series also needs to be completely  torn down to the main board level and have the board removed properly to perform the repair.
This model falls under our standard $65 parts and labor rate but this customer needed the $99 same day turn around time.  We were able to overnight the laptop back for about $80 via Fed Ex.
Once the jack was replaced the laptop powers on and did a full battery charge.

Dell Inspiron 17R, N7010, P08E DC Power Jack Repair

The Dell Inspiron 17R N7010 is the 17" version of the common N5010 laptops we work on with the power jack problems.  These N5010 is a soldered on dc plug and the N7010 is a cable style dc jack that plugs directly into the motherboard.  We perform the replacement of the damaged power jack for $65 parts and labor.
This N7010 had a physically broken input and needed replacement.  The notebook needs to be completely taken apart to the motherboard to access and replace the broken plug.  It's held in by a plastic housing built into the bottom casing of the laptop and also held in by a single screw.  Once replaced, the laptop powers and on and has a brand new internal dc connection.

Asus X53U Broken DC Jack

This Asus X53U came in with a physically broken power plug.  The notebook also had some cosmetic damage due to the fall near the jack area.  It uses a cable style dc jack that plugs directly into the motherboard.  The chassis on this model is very similar to the Acer 5740 and gateway NV53a laptops that are also notorious for needed a dc jack repair.
The X53U needs to be completely taken apart to the motherboard level to access the dc jack.  Once replaced the laptop charges the battery and powers on properly.
