Sony Vaio VGN-350E Power Jack Repair

This sony VGN-350E came with the classic broken dc jack that many sony laptops fall victim too. The small plastic center piece breaks and two small wires are exposed. The jack now feels loose and won't stay connected properly.
The dc jack is located on a cable that's soldered onto a positive and ground wire. The laptop needs to be completely taken apart to the motherboard to gain access to the dc jack. If you can find it you can also replace the entire dc jack/cable.

Dell N5010 15R DC Jack Repair

The Dell N5010 (15R) is a pretty new unit from Dell. It doesn't use the standard nine pin dc jack dell has been using for years on their 15" laptops. It still has nine pins but the layout is completely different. Looking from the outside it still looks like the old dc jack.
This N5010 had been physically damaged because the dc jack was mangled and completely unusable.
The laptop needs be taken apart all the way down to the motherboard to gain access to the dc jack and will need to be de-soldered and a new jack soldered back on.
Once replaced the N5010 works great!

Gateway NV59 MS2288 DC Jack Repair

This Gateway NV59 (NV53, 54, 55, 56, etc.) came in with the power jack physically broken. When you look at the dc input the yellow center pin is completely gone and off the motherboard.
It uses the standard six pin, 1.65mm dc jack that Acer has used for years and now gateway uses.
The NV series laptops need to be completely taken apart to the motherboard to reach the dc jack for replacement. It's also soldered onto the motherboard and can be difficult to de-solder properly.
Once the dc jack is replaced the laptop works great.

hp dv4 dc jack replacement

The customer brought in this hp dv4 saying the cat had tripped over the cord and now the laptop won't work on AC power.
The hp dv4 laptops use a cable style dc jack that plugs into the motherboard vs. being soldered directly to the motherboard. The notebook does need to be completely disassembled to reach the dc jack for replacement.
Once replaced the laptop powers on again on AC power.

The laptop also needs to be completely taken apart to access the dc jack. Once replaced the laptop powers on and charges the battery.
